Apple is developing a new iPad with a Qualcomm multimode CDMA-GSM chips built in. This chip would allow the iPad to run on both AT&T and Verizon networks which use different wireless technology.
Rumors also indicated that the new iPad will be thinner and will have a forward-facing camera. The new iPad is to be thinner than the existing model and hogged out from one piece of metal. This may require a new type of manufacturing process, but most likely it will be similar to the company's unibody approach used in the MacBooks.
